Nautilus Pompilius

Nautilus Pompilius is a Russian rock band founded in 1982 in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg ) by Vyacheslav Butusov (Dmitry Umetsky).

They were active from 1982 to 1997, a period in which they released ten studio albums and four live albums. The band was one of the pioneers of Soviet post-punk and new wave , emblematic of "Ural rock" and associated with Perestroika , making it one of the most influential bands in the history of Russian rock. After the dissolution of the group, Vyacheslav Butusov (singer, guitarist and composer of the band) began his solo career successfully.

The band was founded in 1982 by Vyacheslav Butusov (singer, guitarist and composer) and Dmitry Umetsky (bassist) in Sverdlovsk (currently Yekaterinburg ) while the two were studying at the Institute of Architecture (currently Ural State Academy of Art and Architecture ).
