insight: i wrote this song in memory of all those who have died in school as in the case of columbine and many other schools across the nation who's victims continue to suffer through their families loss. The case that inspired me to write this peace was the one that had happened in 2006 when a young girl was taken hostage and sexually assaulted and then finally shot in the head while trying to escape....such a tragedy this song is for her. 16 year old Emily Keyes


As 16-year-old Emily Keyes was being held hostage by a gunman in the last hours of her life, she tapped out one last text message to her family: "I love u guys."


Lie down flowers in the dirt
so many memories die slowly with her
and its a sad story to tell
to live through again...to live through again and again
why o why is it always the innocent that die?
trapt in the center of all this....collateral

a memory she becomes
apart of history of someone
in a dark hallway with a gun
the final memory of this families loved one

dreams of saying goodbye
moments before that day started she cried
"its over" she says;
"so long father its my time to fly"
