Hammers of Love

de Jonathan Fritzén

Seven horses gallop on a desert waste
Carry seven bandits making off in haste
From the poor folks in the village left in fear and dread
All their valuables gone and their menfolk dead

All at once they come upon a water hole
Stop to rest the horses and divide the gold
Suddenly there’s music coming across the dunes
It’s a man with a big smile and he’s singing a tune

My name is Godas and I play for free, all I ask you friends is to believe in me
There is much that’s mystery

Come gather round me people now, gather round me people now
Gather round me people now, gather round me people now
Gather round me people now, gather round me people
Gather round me people, gather round me people now
Gonna open up your eyes, so you can see

But the bandits say
Hold on Godas, what you gonna show us? Could be the last thing you’ll ever do
Hold on Godas what you gonna show us?
Think [?] it’s sad it’s gonna bury you ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

You don’t scare me at all, says Godas with a grin
Now if you just follow me down to the water we can all begin
You men don’t look that er very smart to me
So I presume you’ve never ever seen a dancing tree?

Now they’re all gathered round the tree down by the pool
Some of the bandits they’re calling Godas a fool
But he just takes out his silver flute and begins to play
Sure enough that tall tree starts to sway

My name is Godas and I play for free, all I ask you friends is to believe in me
There is much that is a mystery

Come gather round me people now, gather round me people now
Gather round me people now, gather round me people now
Gather round me people now, gather round me people
Gather round me people, gather round me people now
Gonna open up your eyes, so you can see

(But the bandits say)

Hold on Godas sure want you to know this
We really like the way you play and sing
But hold on Godas the rest of it is pocus
We know you do it with invisible strings hmm mm mm

Godas turns away and says ‘I’ve done the best I could. '
But the bandits they come forward they’re looking for his blood
You can imagine their extreme surprise
When Godas vanishes before their very eyes

If you’re ever wandering out in the desert all alone
Come across seven figures made out of stone
Want you to listen very closely to the wind
Could be you’ll hear our old friend sing

My name is Godas and I play for free, all I ask you friends is to believe in me
There is much that is a mystery, so why go causing others misery?
Why can’t you learn to live in harmony?

Now gather round me people now, gather round me people now
Gather round me people now, gather round me people, gather round me people
Gather round me people now, gather round me people now
Gather round me people now

Gonna open up your eyes
Gonna open up your eyes so you can see
