To a story lost, but maybe not forgotten
The details blur and you wonder if you’ve truly lost them
Among a million other memories along the way

I couldn’t quite recall her name
But when the Sun would set just right, I could still recall the night, just not the same
As it was when we were young
Like a puzzle missing pieces, I can still make out the image, it just appears a bit unfinished

The seasons changed so quickly
Before I knew it, you were gone
On your own at twenty-one
Set to find a life all on your own away from here

You went to California
You said the Sun would never set
You’d eventually pay all your debts
But you took a loan from me I know you never could repay

But that’s okay
Our memories aren’t worth much anyway
And I can feel
Them depreciating with each passing day
Remembered as a love not lost but left behind
