Hay un ranchito sobre una loma
Que está rodeado de verde y grana
Y un arroyuelo que corre cerca
Riega el camino de la retama.
Los pajarillos lanzan sus trinos,
Cuando descansan en la pradera
Y ese concierto de notas suaves
Llenan de amores la primavera.
Y de los pinos, se oye un silbido
Cuando un pampero cruza veloz,
Y en su carrera vuelca las hojas
Dando de paso su ultimo adiós...
Después la noche tiende su manto,
Cubriendo al campo de soledad,
Cesan las aves y los gemidos,
En ese espacio de inmensidad.
Al otro día, después del alba,
Un gaucho canta junto a un fogón
Y en las cadencias de sus arpegios
Llena de albricias el diapasón.
Y así los días él va pasando,
Sin más riquezas, ni protección
Que su guitarra bien encordada,
Su buen apero y el redomón...
