Mitt øye har funnet
Mitt nordre dunkle dyp
En lang tids vandring er omme
her ved de sorte sjøers land

Som det dype teppe det er over meg
Og skjuler meg og min sjel
Her ved de dystre sjøers rike
Hvor det hinsidig mørke rår
Som jeg synker ned i det sorte gap
Gir de frosne dyp meg sitt kalde kjærtegn
Det hinsidiges mørke haller hilser meg med sitt silkesorte
Det slukker omsider mitt legems glør , som bor langt her inne
i mitt sorte hjertes slør.
Det gamle riket jeg nå har funnet
Min tilfredsstillelse er dyp
En gyllensvart stjernehimmel åpenbarer seg
