I've been so long out on the road
It was time to get back home
To see my kids and hold my wife
To sit on the porch and watch the cars go by
That old green gate was painted white
But the lock remains crooked to the right

My dog comes running, not as fast
And I'm not as strong
So we lay on the grass

The Sun is up
And there is one more shadow to cast now

It starts at my feet
And fades onto the front door
Will they be the same?

I close my eyes and see the boys
They're fighting again
Something 'bout their toys
Does Mary still like Smiths and Cure?
Does she sleep to her left and leave the TV on?

The Moon is up
I'm weaker than these dragonflies
As strong as a twig
The silence I hear is proof I should be gone now
Will they be the same?
