Alexis Cuadrado

Alexis Cuadrado is native to Barcelona but has lived in New York since 1999. Since then, he’s been an active member of the city's jazz scene. He currently leads the Alexis Cuadrado Puzzles Quartet, an outlet for his compositions, and the band Alexis Cuadrado-Trio Ibérico, in which he mixes contemporary improvised music with music of Spanish origin.

Cuadrado has published three CDs as a leader: "Puzzles" (Brooklyn Jazz Underground Records, 2008), "Visual" (Fresh Sound New Talent, 2004) and "Metro" (FSNT, 2001). These CDs include all-original compositions and have received excellent media reviews and enthusiastic fan reactions.

He also has excellent credits as a sideman, with over 20 recording appearances and performances with such greats as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Bruce Barth, Ben Monder, Perico Sambeat, Mark Turner, Grammy Award winner Angelique Kidjo, Alguímia, Ben Waltzer/Bill McHenry Quartet, Chris Kase, Orquestra de Cambra teatre Lliure conducted by Lluís Vidal, Nuno Ferreira,...
